On Tuesday evening, the Three Rivers Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) held its Annual Awards Banquet at Hollyfield Manor in King William County, recognizing leadership, stewardship, and dedication to conservation. Farmers, community partners, educators, and students gathered to celebrate efforts that protect soil, water, and natural resources.

2025 Award Recipients included several local leaders. The Conservation Leadership Award was presented to Erwin Malcolm “Tootsie” Campbell and Erwin Scott Campbell, and the Outstanding Stewardship Award went to Langdon Townsend, both of King William County. These awards honor individuals who demonstrate exceptional commitment to sustainable farming practices, environmental stewardship, and community engagement.

The Partnership Award was presented to Riverland Insurers, recognizing more than two decades of support for Three Rivers SWCD programs. Community Partner Awards were presented to Friends of the Rappahannock and the King and Queen Library for their continued support of conservation education and outreach in the region. Michelle Dungee received the Teacher Partner Award for her dedication to advancing soil and water conservation education in local schools.

Students were also recognized for participating in the National Association of Conservation Districts Poster Contest, themed “Home is Where the Habitat Is,” from James Cary Intermediate School and King and Queen Central High School. Winners of the Wildlife Food Plot Competition included Evalee Taylor (Junior Division, King & Queen County), Hayden Taylor (Junior Division, King & Queen County), Mason Johnson (Senior Division, King William County), and Tucker Townsend (Senior Division, King William County). These students were honored for their efforts to learn about and support local wildlife.

Three Rivers was proud to celebrate the conservation leaders, partners, and future stewards in King William, King and Queen, and Essex counties.
