Three Rivers SWCD offers three scholarships annually for students within the District (Essex, King William, and King & Queen Counties). All scholarships are due March 1st and should be sent to Three Rivers SWCD at P.O. Box 832, Tappahannock, VA 22560. Those interested should call Grace Daughtrey (Education & Outreach Coordinator) at 804-443-4027 or email grace.daughtrey@trswcd.org to receive an application.
The applicants should be pursuing a degree in agriculture/natural resources or come from a farming background. All scholarships are valued at $1,000 and are eligible for high school seniors or currently enrolled college students. More information is listed below:
Earl H. & Anna K. Longest Memorial Scholarship
available to King & Queen residents
John F. Townsend Sr. Memorial Scholarship
available to King William high school seniors
J. Franklin “Frankie” Townsend Jr. Memorial
available to Essex, King William, or King & Queen high school seniors
All scholarship applications are due on March 1st, 2024 (other than the VASWCD scholarship, which is due on April 1st, 2024).
Three Rivers SWCD also helps promote the Larkin Hundley Memorial Endowment, which is administered by Colonial Farm Credit and is valued at $2,000. The criteria for this scholarship is an Essex County resident with an agriculture background or pursuing agriculture, forestry, or an environmental science degree. Three Rivers SWCD promotes the VASWCD scholarship as well, which can be found on www.vaswcd.org/student-scholarships. Four winners will be awarded for the VASWCD scholarship across the state of Virginia and all scholarship applications must be sent to Three Rivers SWCD by April 1st. All other scholarships previously listed above are due by March 1st!
