
The TRSWCD Teacher Mini Grant Program supports local educators in bringing soil and water conservation concepts into the classroom through hands-on projects, innovative materials, and curriculum enhancement.
Eligibility
- Open to teachers in Essex, King William, and King & Queen counties
- All grade levels and subject areas welcome, with a focus on environmental education
Purpose:
This mini grant is intended to:
- Foster environmental stewardship among students
- Provide funding for creative, conservation-focused projects
- Support curriculum that highlights the importance of natural resources, soil health, and water quality
Examples of Funded Projects:
- Classroom terrariums
- Hydroponic gardens
- Water quality monitoring kits
- Composting systems
- Pollinator or native plant gardens
Grant Criteria:
Applications will be evaluated based on:
- Alignment with soil and water conservation goals
- Impact on student awareness of natural resources
- A clear, achievable plan with defined short- and long-term outcomes
- Creation or enhancement of educational resources
- Potential for the project to be replicated in other classrooms or schools
