TRSWCD Teacher Mini Grants

The TRSWCD Teacher Mini Grant Program supports local educators in bringing soil and water conservation concepts into the classroom through hands-on projects, innovative materials, and curriculum enhancement.

Eligibility

  • Open to teachers in Essex, King William, and King & Queen counties
  • All grade levels and subject areas welcome, with a focus on environmental education

Purpose:

This mini grant is intended to:

  • Foster environmental stewardship among students
  • Provide funding for creative, conservation-focused projects
  • Support curriculum that highlights the importance of natural resources, soil health, and water quality

Examples of Funded Projects:

  • Classroom terrariums
  • Hydroponic gardens
  • Water quality monitoring kits
  • Composting systems
  • Pollinator or native plant gardens

Grant Criteria:

Applications will be evaluated based on:

  • Alignment with soil and water conservation goals
  • Impact on student awareness of natural resources
  • A clear, achievable plan with defined short- and long-term outcomes
  • Creation or enhancement of educational resources
  • Potential for the project to be replicated in other classrooms or schools
