Hi, Producers! First of all, We want to send a huge THANK YOU to you all for making this another banner year for cost-share sign up! We’re continuing to set records and we couldn’t do that without you all!

As a reminder, here are some dates to keep in mind:

October 12 : LAST planting day to qualify for payment on Crimson Clover cover crop

October 26 : LAST planting day to qualify for payment on Legume cover crops

November 10 : LAST planting day to qualify for EARLY cover crop payment rate

ALSO : Last planting day to qualify for HARVESTABLE cover crop payment rate

November 30 : LAST planting day to qualify for ANY cover crop payment, at a reduced rate

December 1 : Deadline to file paperwork to request an equipment tax credit 

December 15 : ANY and ALL changes to cover crop MUST be reported to the District – not FSA

PLEASE make sure you report your cover crop planting to us as soon as you are able to. Failing to let us know what you planted may result in an incorrect payment for you.

As crazy as it seems, it’s already time to start looking ahead to next year. We’ll be performing spot checks beginning in the winter. Some more dates for you to keep in mind are :

March 1 : Nutrients may be applied

March 15 : Cover crop burn down begins (unless you’ve signed up for the May 1 bonus payment)

Harvestable cover crop may be harvested

Nutrient Management Plans are DUE to Sarah in the office no later than March 15

Your payment WILL be a direct reflection of the Nutrient Management Plan you have on file with the District as of March 15, 2024.

May 1 : Cover crop left for bonus payment ($10/acre) can be burned down

June 1 : ALL cover crop must be burned down
