This year, our Education and Outreach Coordinator, Grace, organized a local poster contest based on the NACD theme “Life in the Soil: Dig Deeper.” She reached out to local counties and received 11 submissions from James Cary Intermediate School in Essex and King and Queen Central High School.
To determine the winners, we invited attendees of the Awards Banquet to vote for their favorite posters. The top three winners from each school each received a $25 gift card, and all participants received an award certificate. The winners were:
King and Queen County
1st Place: Johnae Brown
2nd Place: Kennedy Randall
3rd Place: Lillian Burroughs
Special Mention: Maci Monroe
Essex County
1st Place: Maliya Famble
2nd Place: Bridget Davis
3rd Place: Amarri Johnson
A special thank you to Yuwei Chen, JCIS Art Teacher, and Angela Gentry, K&Q Central HS Art Teacher, for helping make the poster contest such a success!
