Our Education & Outreach Coordinator has been busy with field trips in the past few months! On April 10th and 11th, Grace partnered with Friends of the Rappahannock at Belle Isle State Park educator in Lancaster. Belle Isle State Park hosted Essex High School 10th grade Biology students and James Cary Intermediate School’s 8th grade science classes. Activities included water testing, nature hikes, macro invertebrate sampling, and a pollution activity.
On April 25th, in a partnership with VCE, Grace went to Central High School in King and Queen County and participated in the “Real Money, Real World” simulation. The week before the event, the students had a lesson that gave them simulated jobs, debt, and kids. At the event, the students go around to different stations with their “checkbook registries” and pay their bills for the month.
