Project Learning Tree Facilitator Training

Learning about native tribe life in Henricus Historical Park

In January and April, our Education and Outreach Coordinator, Grace, attended Project
Learning Tree facilitator workshops. Project Learning Tree provides activities and resources to
engage children in learning about the environment through the lens of trees and forests. The
January workshop took place at Henricus Historical Park from 9am – 5:30pm, and was focused
on education and lessons for grades K-8. During this workshop, participants went through
lessons as if they were the students and talked about the ways to get students involved. It
also included a tour of Henricus Historical Park. In April, the workshop was held at Maymont
Park in Richmond. This workshop, taking place from 9am-1pm, was focused on high school
level curriculum. After attending both workshops, Grace received the activity guides for K-8
and 9-12 for use within schools and in the community.
