SOL Science Day at Tappahannock Elementary School

June 10, 2024

On May 21st, Three Rivers SWCD held an Agriculture and Science day at Tappahannock Elementary School for the 4th grade classes. There were six stations, each with its own focus. Activities included habitat cage discoveries with Robin Didlake and Claire Wilmore from Friends of the Rappahannock, learning the importance of soil with Keith Balderson from NRCS, forestry with John Magruder from Three Rivers Forestry LLC, plant anatomy with Robbie Longest and Danielle Brown from VCE, learning about soybeans and making soybean seed necklaces with Faye Hundley, Kaye Rice, and Sharon Ambrose with the Women’s Committee of the Essex Farm Bureau, and learning about wildlife with K9 Officer Dobyns and Officer Scripture from the Department of Wildlife Resources. A huge thank you to the teachers for all of their help, from planning this day to making it a success for approximately 78 students!
